The Florida black wolf was a species of wolf endemic to Florida that officially went extinct in 1908 due to overhunting and habitat loss. Typically found in pine forests and palmetto prairie, they were small-framed and jet black except for patches of white on their chest and muzzle. Sadly, due to the ignorance of man these beautiful creatures will never roam the woods of Florida again. Let their loss be a lesson to inspire future conservation efforts so that other species aren’t doomed to the same fate!
